Everything about Pem Nut totally explainedA pem nut provides a threaded socket for a metal work piece. It functions analogously to a T-nut in wood. A hole just slightly larger than the pem nut is pre-drilled through the work piece. A tool is passed through the hole and threaded into the pem nut. The pem nut is then drawn tight through the hole, which acts to expand the outside of the nut, clinching it in the hole.
